The Word of God is His revelation to mankind and infallible counsel to you. The Holy Writ is a transcript of the will of your Maker and Redeemer. It is an expression of His divine wisdom and His voice speaking every day to your soul.
Scriptures reveal the great themes which concern your eternal destiny: how to reach the eternal life and happiness, and secure the treasures of Heaven. The great truths necessary for salvation are made clear.
The Bible presents to you the only safe principles of action in this sinful world. Its teachings, carried out in your life will fit you for any position of duty.
Thus to all who heed its precepts it will prove an unerring guide, keeping them from wasting their lives in misdirected effort.
Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches:
but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me,
that I am the Lord which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord. Jeremiah 9:23, 24.

The Infinite Wisdom has spoken
Scriptures are God’s disclosure to us of eternal things – ones of the most consequence for us to know. Thus God has made known His will.
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live. Deuteronomy 30:19.
It is folly for mankind to question that which has gone out of His lips. There can be no doubtful questions for humans to settle, no wavering possibilities for them to adjust.
All that is required of human beings is a frank, earnest concurrence in the expressed will of God. Obedience is the highest dictate of reason as well as of conscience.
God calls upon you to be doers of His Word, in order that you may be thoroughly educated in the principles that will give you a fitness for Heaven.
Scriptures set forth the conditions upon which every soul will be elected to eternal life. It is obedience to God’s commandments through faith in Christ.
He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life. John 3:36.
It is the work of the gospel to restore the moral image of God in humans
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3.
Moreover, as you search the Scriptures, you must believe that God is, and that He rewards those who diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:6.
Thus none will mistake and lose their way except those who follow their own judgment instead of the plainly revealed will of God.
God gave humanity the possibility to obtain knowledge of Him and His only-begotten Son whom He has send. Thus those who study God’s Word, taking it in faith as the truth, and receiving it into the character, will be complete in Christ who is all and in all.
Thus we have the revelation of:
- God’s character as reveled in Christ
- the great work of redemption
- His dealings with mankind
Scriptures are the living water and the living bread from heaven. Jesus declares:
Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink His blood, ye have no life in you. John 6:53.
The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63.
The Word of God characteristics
- the beginning that was with God, and was God
- given by inspiration of Him, will not pass away and will stand forever
- the word that gives life and is able to save your soul
- wisdom, knowledge and understanding
- a test of discipleship
- quick, powerful and sharper than any two-edged sword
- discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart
- profitable for doctrine, reproof, correction and instruction in righteousness
- helping believer to be thoroughly furnished unto all good works
- a lamp unto your feet and a light unto your path
- cleansing the way and a blessing to those who hear and keep it
- giving light and understanding unto the simple
- a safeguard to all those that trust in Him
- the sincere milk that you may grow thereby
- upholding all things
- God Himself.
Learn of Me
The whole Bible tells of Christ. From the first record of creation – for without Him was not anything made that was made, to the closing promise – Behold, I come quickly, we are reading of His works and listening to His voice. John 1:3; Revelation 22:12.
Scriptures gives knowledge and understanding of the character and attributes of God and His government. The Lord is:
- glorious, loving, merciful, forgiving
- gracious, just, forbearing, joyful
- long-suffering, faithful, holy
- trustworthy, uncompelling, compassionate
- serving, creative, listening
- humble, pardoning, perfect
- benevolent, attractive, giving
- gentle, truthful, sacrificing
- wise, foreknowing
- peaceful, righteous, sympathetic
Moreover, the gift of God to save the guilty and ruined race, alone reveals the infinite depths of divine tenderness and compassion. God’s character is summed up in the following verse: He that loveth not knoweth not God; for God is love. 1 John 4:8.
Only by knowing Christ we can know God
No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him. John 1:18.
All things are delivered unto me of my Father: and no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal him. Matthew 11:27.
These words show the importance of studying Christ’s character.
Jesus came to teach humans of the Father. Furthermore, to correctly represent Him before the fallen earthly children.
Angels could not fully portray the character of God. Christ, who was a living impersonation of God, could not fail to accomplish the work.
The only way in which He could set and keep humans right was to make himself visible and familiar to their eyes. He came directly to them that they might have salvation and became a partakers of His nature.
Walk in the light of His Word
God will give us up to our own inclinations when the desire to submit to God and to do His will is no longer felt, and the spiritual senses become dulled.
The light will indeed become darkness to those who do not walk in it. On the other hand, it will shine with increasing brightness on the path of those who do walk in it.
The path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day. Proverbs 4:18.
The warning of God will come to you:
As I live, saith the Lord God, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die. Ezekiel 33:11.
Then take heed today to the voice of God. Thank Him it is not too late for wrongs to be made right.
Now is the accepted time, now is the day of salvation. 2 Corinthians 6:2.
God has entrusted light of gospel truth to His people to give to all those who are praying for light. To such we should speak as did the apostle Paul to the Athenians:
The Word was made flesh
Jesus walked this earth as the Eternal Word. He was the Creator of the world, the Son of the Infinite God. He took on Himself a human nature to meet the necessities of humanity.
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. John 1:1, 14.
Thus God’s goodness, benevolence, and love was a surprise to the world. By His perfect life and character Christ answered the question: Lord, who shall abide in thy tabernacle? who shall dwell in thy holy hill? Psalms 15:1.
He that walketh uprightly, and worketh righteousness, and speaketh the truth in his heart. Psalms 15:2.
In Christ is the fountain of all knowledge
In Him are centered our hopes of eternal life. He was always kind, courteous, ever taking the part of the oppressed, and beloved by all.
Jesus had the most wonderful mission to this world. His work as the world Savior was not to give a full relation of His personal claims to deity. Thus His humiliation was a concealment of His claims.
Look to Christ and believe in Him as the likeness of God.
The power of love as revealed in Christ
God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8.
And if God be for us, who can be against us? He that spared not His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Romans 8:31, 32.
Do you long for the message? Thy sins be forgiven thee. Matthew 9:5.
There is but one answer: Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh the sin of the world. John 1:29.
Christ is your ultimate help from above
You can have it all for free.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.
Haw to have peace today and an eternal reward at His coming?
Take God at His Word: Go, and sin no more. John 8:11.
The Word of God is to be a lamp to your path and a light to your feet. It is your privilege to walk in the light and to grow up to the full stature of men and women in Christ Jesus. This is the result of sanctification through the truth as it is in Jesus. And this is what God requires of all.
But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption. 1 Corinthians 1:30.
The outshining of the Father’s glory
Christ, the outshining of the Father’s glory came to the world as its light. He came to represent God to men. It is written of Him that He was anointed with the Holy Ghost and with power, and went about doing good. Acts 10:38.
In Christ’s prayer offered just before His crucifixion He declared: I have glorified Thee on the earth. Glorify Thy Son.
He pleaded, that Thy Son also may glorify Thee. O righteous Father, the world hath not known Thee: but I have known Thee, and these have known that Thou hast sent Me.
And I have declared unto them Thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith Thou hast loved Me may be in them, and I in them. John 17:4, 1, 25, 26.
Those who accepted Christ’s teaching were strengthen and enlighten by divine grace, that the truth might renew and sanctify their hearts.
God’s character will be made known
Into the spiritual darkness of the world will be shed the light of His glory – the light of His goodness, mercy, and truth.
Great and marvellous are thy works, Lord God Almighty; just and true are thy ways, thou King of saints. Who shall not fear thee, O Lord, and glorify thy name? for thou only art holy: for all nations shall come and worship before thee... Revelation 15:3,4
In everything that Christ taught and urged the people He was revealing the character of the Father, who is long-suffering, merciful, and gracious, slow to anger, and full of goodness and truth.
When Moses asked the Lord to show him His glory, the Lord said:
I will make all my goodness pass before thee. Exodus 33:19.
And the Lord passed by before him, and proclaimed, The Lord, The Lord God, merciful and gracious, long suffering, and abundant in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty. . . . And Moses made haste, and bowed his head toward the earth, and worshiped. Exodus 34:6-8.
Thus when we are able to comprehend the character of God as Moses did, we too shall make haste to bow in adoration and praise.
Jesus contemplated nothing less than that the love wherewith Thou hast love me, John 17:26, should be in the hearts of His children, that they might impart the knowledge of God to others.
Sanctify them through Thy truth
In looking to ourselves for righteousness, by which to find acceptance with God, we look to the wrong place.
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 3:18.
Moreover as believing in Christ, sinner is the object of His infinite love and clothed in His spotless righteousness.
For those who believe in Christ, He prayed:
Sanctify them through Thy truth: Thy word is truth. John 17:17.
The word becomes a living agency when faith is kept in constant exercise through the diligent study of it. Thus we are sanctified through the truth.
What is Bible sanctification?
It is a conformity to the will of God, attained by rendering obedience to His law, through faith in His Son. There is no genuine sanctification except through obedience to the truth.
Thy law is the truth. Psalm 119:142.
The law of God is the only standard of moral perfection. That law was exemplified in the life of Christ. He says:
I have kept my Father’s commandments. John 15:10.
Moreover, apostle John affirms:
He that saith he abideth in Him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked. 1 John 2:6.
This is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. 1 John 5:3.
Those who love God will love His commandments also. The truly sanctified heart is in harmony with the divine precepts. For they are holy, and just, and good.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. But whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him. 1 John 2:4, 5.
A change wrought by the Word
Seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. Colossians 3:1-3.
This change is in itself a miracle. Through the power of Christ men and women have broken the chains of sinful habit. They have renounced selfishness.
The profane have become reverent, the drunken sober, and the prodigal pure. Souls that have the likeness of Satan have become transformed into the image of God.
If any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. 2 Corinthians 5:17.
The change in you wrought by the Word is one of the deepest mysteries of the Word. We cannot understand it. We can only believe it as declared by the Scriptures: Christ in you, the hope of glory. Colossians 1:27.
- their transgressions has been forgiven and their sins covered
- they have exercised repentance toward God for the violation of the divine law and faith toward Christ, who died for their justification.
Being justified by faith, they have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ. Romans 5:1.
God impresses the truth of His Word by His Spirit
The Holy Spirit enabled the disciples to exalt the Lord. Today the same Spirit is constantly seeking to draw the attention of all to the great sacrifice made upon the cross of Calvary, unfolding to the world the love of God.
- brings understanding of eternal truths
- presents before the mind the great standard of righteousness
- convinces of sin
- inspires faith in Christ who alone can save from sin.
In addition, the Holy Spirit recreates, refines, and sanctifies human beings. Thus fitting them to become members of the royal family, children of the heavenly King.
Except a man be born again he cannot see the kingdom of God. John 3:3.
Without the Spirit of God a knowledge of His Word has no benefit. The theory of truth without the Holy Spirit cannot sanctify the heart.
One may be familiar with the commands and promises of the Bible, but unless the Spirit of God sets the truth home, the character will not be transformed.
How does the Spirit do that? The Spirit works upon one’s heart according to one’s desire and consent implanting in him or her a new nature.
The grace of God has been freely offered to every soul. The message of the gospel has been proclaimed – Let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. Revelation 22:17.
Character is not transferable
No one can believe for another and receive the Spirit for another. No one can impart to another the character which is the fruit of the Spirit’s working.
Though Noah, Daniel, and Job were in it [the land], as I live, saith the Lord God, they shall deliver neither son nor daughter; they shall but deliver their own souls by their righteousness. Ezekiel 14:20.
In the great and measureless gift of the Holy Spirit are contained all of heaven’s resources. It is not because of any restriction on the part of God that the riches of His grace do not flow earthward to men. If all were willing to receive, all would become filled with His Spirit.
The pan of inspiration wrote that through the Holy Spirit, God’s word is a light as it becomes a transforming power in the life of the believers. By implanting in their hearts the principles of His word, the Holy Spirit develops in men the attributes of God.
Wise unto salvation
The highest of all education is the knowledge of God. The Bible opens to us the words of life. For it makes us acquainted with Christ who is our life.
Our course in this life will decide our eternal destiny in Heaven. It is left with us to say whether we shall be with those who inherit the kingdom of God, or with those who go away into outer darkness. God has made every provision for our eternal salvation.
Everyone is elected who will:
- work out his or her own salvation with fear and trembling
- put on the armor and fight the good fight of faith
- watch unto prayer
- search the Scriptures and flee from temptation
- have faith continually and will be obedient to every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them. 2 Timothy 3:14.
In order to have true and abiding faith in Christ, we must know Him as He is represented in the word. It is not a matter of fits and starts, according to the impulse and emotion of the hour. It is a principle that has its foundation in Jesus Christ.
Faith in Christ is trustful
Christ is able to save to the uttermost all who come unto Him. The one who comes to Jesus is setting his or her feet upon a ladder that reaches from earth to heaven.
Wherefore he is able also to save them to the uttermost that come unto God by him, seeing he ever liveth to make intercession for them. Hebrews 7:25.
Thus those who believe in Christ shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of His hand. John 10:28.
And this is life eternal, that they might know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom thou hast sent. John 17:3.
As the life of Christ and the character of His mission are dwelt upon, rays of light will shine forth more distinctly at every attempt to discover truth. Each fresh search will reveal something more deeply interesting than has yet been unfolded. The subject is inexhaustible.
Great is the mystery of godliness. 1 Timothy 3:16.
Sure Word Of Prophesy
We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed; For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. 2 Peter 1:19, 21.
God has sustained His church even through centuries of persecution, conflict, and darkness. He has foreseen all opposing forces and all has taken place as He predicted.
Moreover, He has traced in prophetic revelations what would occur – that which His Spirit inspired the prophets to foretell. Truth is inspired and guarded by God and it will triumph over all opposition.
The gospel of Christ is the law of God exemplified in character. Every deceptions and attempts for vindicating falsehood and errors established and practiced by satanic agencies, will be eternally vanquished.
Thus the triumph of truth will be like the appearing of the sun at noonday. The Sun of Righteousness shall shine forth with healing in His wings, and the whole earth shall be filled with His glory.
For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. Romans 15:4.
All that God has in prophetic history specified to be fulfilled in the past has been. Moreover, all that is yet to come in its order will be.
The time of the end
Blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words of this prophecy, and keep those things which are written therein. Revelation 1:3.
It was Gabriel, the angel next in rank to the Son of God, who came with the divine message to Daniel. It was Gabriel, His angel, whom Christ sent to open the future to the beloved John.
Write the vision, and make it plain, . . . that he may run that readeth it. Habakkuk 2:2.
The word of God is plain to all who study it with a prayerful heart. Every truly honest soul will come to the light of truth.
Light is sown for the righteous. Psalm 97:11.
Daniel stands in his place and John stands in his place. The book of Revelation is the complement of the book of Daniel. One is a prophecy, the other a revelation.
The book that was sealed is not the Revelation, but that portion of the prophecy of Daniel relating to the last days.
But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end. Daniel 12:4.
In the Revelation the Lion of the tribe of Judah has opened to the students of prophecy the book of Daniel. Thus he stands and bears his testimony.
The Lord God will do nothing, but He revealeth His secret unto His servants and prophets. Amos 3:7.
The Kingdom Of God Is Within You
This is the Kingdom of God within you – having Christ in the heart. It comes not with outward show. Look not here or there for manifestations of earthly power to mark its coming.
The kingdom of God cometh not with observation: Neither shall they say, Lo here! or, lo there! for, behold, the kingdom of God is within you. Luke 17:20.21.
God’s will is to purify and refine the defiled soul. Then He will implant in the heart His own righteousness, peace and health, and mankind will become complete in Him. This is the kingdom of God within you.
Jesus teaches us what He is to us. Moreover, what advantage it will be to us individually to eat His words.
The words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life. John 6:63.
If Christ rules in your heart, you will be:
- crucifying the flesh with the affections and lusts
- keeping your feet from going into forbidden paths
- saved from yielding to temptation
- hoping to be kept pure, spotless, and undefiled till the last
- willing to make any sacrifice to place eternal life within the reach of others
- gaining strength of principle and ability to stand faithful
- established in God.
Thus, what grace has begun, glory will crown in the kingdom of God.
Christ calls us to Himself not simply to refresh us with His grace and presence for a few hours, and then to send us forth from His light to walk apart from Him in sadness and gloom.
I no longer live but Christ lives in me
I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. Galatians 2:20.
Apostle Paul showed us that his sufficiency was not in himself. He spoke of himself as always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. 2 Corinthians 4:10.
Self was hidden and Christ was revealed and exalted.
Take advantage of the present opportunity to reach a higher experience. You can live this life only once. Will you not bring the pleasantness and the goodness of a perfect character into this life?
Through the power of the righteousness of Christ you will depart from all iniquity. There must be a living connection of your soul with your Redeemer. Thus through the channel of communication you grow in grace and knowledge of God.
Furthermore as we behold the beauty of the Savior’s character, you will be changed into His likeness.
The word believed becomes grace
Thus you will:
- be filled with sorrow for sin
- humble yourself, acknowledging the messages of warning, reproof, and encouragement
- not doubt His divine mercy or refuse Christ’s infinite love
- have a personal experience, appropriating Christ’s righteousness
- manifest your faith, relying upon the Christ’s atoning sacrifice
- have Jesus as always present Savior, realizing your need of Him
- trust and rest in Him, drinking of the water of life from the divine, inexhaustible Fountain
- cast yourself upon Christ and become partaker of the divine nature.
God’ Word provides abundant means for successful warfare against the evil of this world. The Bible describes how we may equip for the struggle:
- truth will girt our perceptions and ideas
- the righteousness of Christ will be our breastplate
- shield of faith must be in our hand
- the helmet of salvation on our brow.
Furthermore, with the sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, we are to cut our way through the obstructions and entanglements of sin.
The Lord is exalted; for he dwelleth on high: he hath filled Zion with judgment and righteousness. And wisdom and knowledge shall be the stability of thy times, and strength of salvation: the fear of the Lord is his treasure. Isaiah 33:5, 6.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up; That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.John 3:14,15.
Are you getting ready to meet the King?
Search the Bible with a heart hungry for spiritual food! Do not give up your search till you have learned your relation to God and His will concerning you.
All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16, 17.
When Jesus comes in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory, will you be able to say:
Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation. Isaiah 25:9.
