We all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

It is by faith in the Son of God, meditating upon His perfections, that transformation takes place in our characters.

We are to look to Jesus, to find our completeness by beholding the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world. John 1:29.

For in Him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily. And ye are complete in Him, which is the head of all principality and power; Colossians 2:9, 10.

Moreover, as we dwell upon Christ’s sacrifice for us:

  • our love will be quickened
  • we shall be more deeply imbued with His Spirit
  • our confidence in Him will be more constant
  • we will learn the lessons of penitence and humiliation at the foot of the cross.

And being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:8.

Let us fix our minds more firmly upon Jesus and ask in the power of the Holy SpiritCreate in me a clean heart. He will fulfill His promise:

A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you;

And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. Ezekiel 36:26, 27.

Thus by beholding the beauty of His character, we will be changed into the same image from glory to glory.

The glory of Christ

It is revealed in the Law, which is a transcript of His character.

I am the vine, ye are the branches. John 15:5.

His transforming power is felt upon the soul until believers become changed to His likeness.

Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ; Ephesians 4:13.

Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 2 Peter 1:4.
