He put away sin by the sacrifice of himself.

Christ is our atoning sacrifice and by faith we can accept the atonement that has been made. Thus we have the assurance that when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of His Son, therefore, we shall be saved by his life. Romans 5:10.

For then must He often have suffered since the foundation of the world: but now once in the end of the world hath He appeared to put away sin by the sacrifice of Himself.

Moreover, Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit; 1 Peter 3:18.

Furthermore, Who being the brightness of God’s glory, and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power,

when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high. Hebrews 1:3.

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in His blood, to declare His righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God; Romans 3:25.

Thus The blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth us from all sin. 1 John 1:7.

From His own love comes the Gift which reconciles us to Himself.

For God so loved the world, that he gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. John 3:16.

The wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord. Romans 6:23.

He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon Him; and with His stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:5.

The Son of God endured the cross for the joy of receiving back our fallen world.

God hath made Him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in Him. 2 Corinthians 5:2.

He took upon Himself humanity and became a servant.

Jesus died for the sins of humans as the Lord hath laid on him the iniquity of us all, brought as a lamb to the slaughter, and his soul was made an offering for sin. Isaiah 53:6, 7, 10.

Being found in fashion as a man, He humbled Himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross. Philippians 2:8.

The Son of man was lifted up

As Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must (was) the Son of man lifted up: that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life. John 3:14, 15.

All who have ever lived upon the earth have felt the deadly sting of that old serpent, called the devil, and Satan. Revelation 12:9.

The fatal effects of sin can be removed only by the provision that God has made. The ancient Hebrews   saved their lives from deadly serpents by believing God’s word, trusting in the means provided for their recovery.

Therefore, the sinner even today may look to Christ and live by receiving:

  • pardon through faith in the atoning sacrifice
  • healing and restoration from His power and virtue.

When through repentance toward God for violating the precepts of His holy Law and faith toward Christ as our personal Saviour and substitute, we receive pardon for our sins and stand before God as a just.

Moreover through the Spirit we have a fellowship with the Father and the Son.

The next step is to become partakers of the Divine nature – to be sanctified through the truth.

All this comes down to saving faith and trust in God, through the belief in the atoning sacrifice made by the Son of God on Calvary. Thus in Him the justified believers behold their only hope and deliverer.

Conclusion

So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation. Hebrews 9:28.

On the other hand: If we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins. Hebrews 10:26.

Now the just shall live by faith…we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul. Hebrews 10;38, 39.

That light originates in God – the ultimate source of light. It is His loving, merciful, gracious, righteous, truthful and forgiving character. This is the light of God’s glory.

This then is the message which we have heard of Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him is no darkness at all. 1 John 1:5.

For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 4:6.

How can a man be born when he is old? How can these things be? John 3:4, 9.

This new birth is the result of receiving Christ as the Word of God. Moreover, of the Divine truths impressed by the Holy Spirit upon the heart.

That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. It is the Spirit that quickeneth;

When we contemplate Jesus’ life with all that He went through we can only repeat the exclamation of John:

Herein is love

  • not that we loved God, but that He loved us
  • and sent His only begotten Son into the world to be the propitiation for our sins
  • the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world, that we might live through Him.
